Jactionary: Shakespeare's 400th

img_2342-6837285 Today is Shakespeare’s 400th, a day marking four hundred years since the Bard’s death. Fans celebrate and mark this day since his exact birth date is in question. (If you’re a Harry Potter fan, celebrating the day of his death reminds me of Nearly Headless Nick’s Deathday Party.)

As do so many, I adore Shakespeare’s poetry and plays. My absolute favorite play is King Lear, but I love so many others as well: Hamlet, Macbeth, Henry V, Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Othello, Julius Caesar, Henry IV, and Richard III.

I just realized there is only one romance in that list and even it ends in death, ha ha…that’s pretty dark. Oops. There are still quite a few I haven’t read–all the more reason to keep spending money on books! Happy 400th, William Shakespeare! Which Shakespeare play is your favorite?
